On My Graduation

Well! We did it. We’ve officially graduated from Paro college of Education. Initially, I thought putting down four years of my life in few short paragraphs would be impossible but I went ahead and did it anyway.

Answering the Call to Teach

During my interview, I was asked a simple question: “Why do you want to be a teacher?” Without hesitation, I talked about the ‘loop of learning’ on how being a teacher means you’re always learning, not just teaching. For me, it was the most beautiful profession because it never put a limit on my growth and development.

Me and My Flute
“Eww! This class and this thing!” I clearly remember saying that as I placed the colourful stringed Dramgyoen (traditional Bhutanese lute) down in frustration, completely drained after yet another struggle to get the notes right. I must have repeated that phrase a dozen times or maybe more. At the time, nothing about learning music felt exciting. If anything, it felt like a burden I didn’t sign up for.

My First Day at a Teacher Training College

I heard from my seniors that college life is full of enjoyment and unforgettable memories. But for me it is a little different. I am just an ordinary college girl on a quest for knowledge and not just for a degree certificate. I came here to discipline myself with values and to be precise, a responsible contributing person and a change driver in the Education system.

And just like that, I was enrolled in college – a new chapter began!!

A cold gentle breeze touched my cheeks as I stepped out of the taxi in Paro, the serene valley of rice. It was the month of July 2023, and I had come all the way from Chhukha, carrying dreams and quiet excitement for what lay ahead. As someone coming out of school recently without much experience about the outer world, a wave of nervousness washed over me, a mixture of excitement.
