ToR for adjunct faculty on contract for teaching creative arts

Context

Paro College of Education, Royal University of Bhutan, offers creative arts modules, including visual arts, fine arts, drama, theatre, music, dance and driglam in the undergraduate programmes of Bachelor of Education and Diploma in Early Childcare and development programmes. The College presently has two faculty members with their backgrounds in creative arts, one of whom is the Dean of Student Affairs. The Dean of Students, as an executive is not able to take full teaching loads. The other faculty member is ear marked to pursue her Masters degree abroad in a semester or two. As such, the College will need to engage an adjunct faculty to teach creative arts modules with effect from spring 2023, for an initial period of two years. The term of the faculty will be extendable based on performance. A contract will be signed between the selected candidate and the college.

Position Level:          Associate Lecturer

Engagement period: An initial term of two years, with effect from February 2023

 Responsibilities

The candidate should be able to teach creative arts modules and other educational modules at the undergraduate level, including carrying out semester teaching plans, student assessment, and module review and reporting, among others.

Eligibility Criteria

• A minimum qualification of a Bachelor of Education degree
• A minimum of ten years of teaching experience in schools in Bhutan with a deep understanding of creative arts subjects in the Bhutanese school curriculum
• A good understanding of the creative arts modules of the College
• Evidences related to engagement in professional services and research projects will be an added advantage.
