A meeting between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Royal Civil Service Commission (RCSC), and Paro College of Education (PCE) was held on 5th October to review the ongoing collaboration and assess the contribution of JICA volunteers. The discussion focused on identifying the strengths, opportunities, and areas for improvement of the volunteer programme.
The meeting recognised the valuable contributions of JICA volunteers in capacity building, knowledge sharing, professional development, and cultural exchange. It also highlighted the need for stronger coordination, better alignment of volunteer expertise with institutional priorities, improved documentation, and greater emphasis on sustainability and knowledge transfer.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding to strengthen collaboration among the Japan International Cooperation Agency, Royal Civil Service Commission, and Paro College of Education, while exploring further opportunities to enhance the effectiveness and long-term impact of the JICA volunteer programme.
Later in the afternoon, PCE welcomed the delegation from Ama Town, Japan, for a meeting on Project-Based Learning for Gross National Happiness (GNH). The dialogue explored how learning through real-world projects can connect academic knowledge with community needs while nurturing compassion, collaboration, environmental responsibility and collective wellbeing.
The meeting provided an opportunity to share educational perspectives and explore collaboration that empowers learners to become thoughtful problem-solvers and responsible citizens. This engagement supports Bhutan’s aspiration for an enlightened citizenry, grounded in GNH values and equipped to contribute to a sustainable, harmonious future.
