Choden Zangmo

Professional biography

 

Choden Wangmo has graduated from Paro College of education in the year 2019, holding a Bachelor’s degree in primary education. During my training I have taught or given tuition to students of lower classes. I have attended few workshops which has benefit in our lifetime achievement. I have also done 2 weeks course for translation and helped my colleagues with some of the translation work. I am an active participant in anything I do. During my school time I was a leader and I also initiated club. I have completed my Desuung training this year as a 38th batch. I am currently teacher in Budhashi Primary School under Zhemgang Dzongkhag.

  He is the PCE Alumni leader for Zhemgang Dzongkhag.

Nim Dorji

Professional biography

Nim Dorji, B.Ed, is a teacher at Rukubji Primary School in Wangdue Phodrang. He graduated from Paro College of Education in June, 2019. He is the recipient of His Majesty’s Certificate for Academic Excellence while in the college and also topped the Bhutan Civil Service Examination for B.Ed in 2019. Since his school days, he has shouldered various leadership positions. Owing to his sheer interest in Bhutanese culture and heritage, he has earned National Certificate Level 2 (NC 2) under the Bhutan Vocational Qualifications in the occupation of Cultural Tourist Guide prior to his joining at PCE.

 

In 2016, he was selected as a Youth Representative for the Youth Initiative programme under the auspices of Bhutan Centre for Media and Democracy. Since then, he was actively engaged in the debate and deliberation of youth related issues and finding ways to solve them. He was also a member of the first ever Youth Summit in the country held in 2016. He has also participated in several National and international workshops which includes: 5th International Conference on Medical and Health Sciences (26th -27th Oct, 2019), Media and Information Literacy Workshop (8th-10th July, 2019), 2nd Workshop for Journalist on Gender-sensitive reporting in Media (24th -26th July, 2018), 5th Basic Unit Leaders Training (10th -14th June, 2019), Global Citizenship Education Program-Diversity Voyage (5th-10th Sept, 2018) and 40th Batch of Integrated De-Suung Training (28th May- 17th June, 2020).

 

He is a Scout, De-Suup and Youth Representative for Youth Initiative. Earlier this year, he has participated in the review process of Bhutan’s National Youth Policy, 2011.

 

He is the PCE Alumni leader for Wangdue Phodrang Dzongkhag.

Deki Dem

Professional biography

Deki Dem is a teacher currently teaching in Drukgyel Lower Secondary School, Paro. She graduated from Paro College of Education in 2001 with a Primary Teacher Certificate. In 2018, she completed her Bachelors of Education (Primary) successfully. Besides, she had a Diploma in Counselling from National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), Delhi in 2010. During her tenure as a teacher, she attended various professional enhancement programmes and seminars such as Basic Career Education & Counselling Workshop in Phuntsholing HS (2002),  Advanced Skill Development Workshop on Counselling at Ugyen Academy, Punakha (2002), Workshop on Gender Responsiveness in the classroom at Utpal Academy, New English Curriculum Orientation for classes V to XII at Phuntsholing LSS, Chukha (2006), Orientation programme on New English Curriculum classes PP-IV at Shari HSS, Paro (2006), workshop on Infusing GNH in Schools at Shaba MSS (2013), Training of Trainers (ToT) on Transformative Pedagogy, Ariya Hotel, Thimphu (2016), English for Effective Communication PD at Shaba HSS, Paro (2017), TOT on Helping Skills at ILMS, Thimphu (2019), Neuroscience-based Mindfulness & Emotional Intelligence in July (2019), Professionalism and Leadership in Public Service, Utpal HSS (2019) and Training Program in MS-Office and Internet under Chiphen Rigpel Project in Paro College. Recently, she attended the training on Bhutan Centre for Media Democracy, July 2020 and joined as a member.

 

Besides her active participation in professional learning programmes, she also facilitated a number of programmes for various agencies. She facilitated Diglam Namzha (Etiquette) Chawang competition for the staff of Lango MSS in 2015. In 2016, she resourced Transformative Pedagogy training for teachers of Lhuntse Dzongkhag at Thimyul LSS centre. Further, she conducted Professional Development on Helping Skills at Lungtenzampa MSS,Thimphu in July 2019. 

 

She has 20 years of teaching experience in the school and held various leadership roles and responsibilities as Head of Department (English) in school, Examination Coordinator, House Supervisor, English Literary Coordinator, Peer Helper, Club coordinator, Teacher Counsellor, Invigilator for BCSEA and home Examinations and Mentor to the Student Teachers of Paro College of Education. She is also a member of Volunteer Teachers of Bhutan (VTOB).

Sangay Thinley

Professional biography

 

My name is Sangay Thinley. I am from oungar, metsho geowg under lhuentse Dzongkhag. I graduated from paro college of Education in 2019 with a degree in Dzongkha B.ed. Just now i am working as a teacher in Tongzhuna ECR under punakha Dzongkhag. Recently i have joined in a PCE Alumni Network where i will be an Alumni leader of Punakha Dzongkhag.

Becoming an PCE Alumni Member

The PCE alumni network is aimed to create a vibrant community of PCE graduates involved in the life of the College and informed of its latest developments and its continued contributions to the development of education in Bhutan. The network shall also support PCE alumni in keeping their professional lives active and meaningful through virtual professional development programmes and other services.  The PCE Alumni Network will create a number of opportunities for the registered members, including the following:

 

  1. Alumni profiling: Registered alumni can access the alumni page on the PCE website where one can share especially made and high quality educational videos, feature stories, articles, or short research papers for wider dissemination. The videos or writings may be about individual initiatives, important events, educational programmes, historical facts about the place where the alumnus is based, to mention a few examples.
  2. PCE will have an Alumni Page in the College Newsletter where the life and works of selected alumni will be featured.
  3. The College will create an online portal in its Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) where an alumnus may post specific questions related to improvement of teaching and learning and get responses from the subject specialists in the College.
  4. Alumni will have access to PCE Digital Library for accessing educational resources.
  5. Selected research articles written by alumni will be published in PCE’s educational journals. In case of selected papers that meet the journals’ publication criteria, PCE may provide some editorial support.
  6. The College will provide occasional Professional Development (PD) programmes in fields related to teaching and learning and education in general through PCE’s Virtual Learning platform and via webinars.
  7. Alumni will receive invitations to attend professional development seminars and special events in the College.
  8. Alumni will receive digital publications and e-copies of PCE Newsletter by e-mail.

Useful Information

 

  1. PCE Alumni Network is run with the support and leadership of its Alumni Network Leaders appointed one each in all the twenty Dzongkhags. The Alumni Leaders will participate in online meetings with the PCE’s Alumni Network Development Committee and others as appointed by the committee.
  2. To become a registered member of the PCE Alumni Network, an alumnus shall pay Nu.1000 as an initial lifetime Registration Fee. A registered alumnus shall renew her/his membership each year by paying an annual renewal fee of Nu. 300. By paying the one-time registration fee and the annual renewal fee a registered member will be able to avail the professional development services and other benefits provided by the College.
  3. Since there are thousands of alumni to be registered, we have already started the alumni registration process. The Alumni Network will be officially launched in October 2020. With its launch, we will begin with the stated services in a phased manner.
