The library and information services will continue to play a major role in the development of information literacy in today\u2019s information dependent society.The staff of Library and Information aims to provide easy and equitable information and library services supporting education and lifelong learning.<\/span><\/p>

Library Resources<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

The library has a collection of materials that supports the users of the college. The collection contains:<\/span><\/p>

  • Textbooks<\/span><\/li>
  • Fiction<\/span><\/li>
  • Non-fiction (English &\u00a0Dzongkha<\/span><\/li>

    Library Policies and Rules<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

    Membership<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>

     <\/p>

    All students, academic and administrative staff of the College are members of the library.<\/span><\/p>

    Teacher trainees are kindly requested to show their student ID while using library services.<\/span><\/p>

     <\/p>

    Borrowing Access and Loan Periods<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>
    • The library collections are available to all individuals for use<\/span><\/li>
    • All faculty, staff and students are eligible for privileges to borrow from PCE library<\/span><\/li>
    • Five items per student for\u00a0two weeks<\/em>.<\/span><\/li>
    • Ten items per lecturers for two months.<\/span><\/li>
    • Five items per staff for one months<\/span><\/li>
    • Reference items, journals and periodicals will not be loaned out.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

       <\/p>

      Overdue Material<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>
      • Students will be charged Nu.5 per day for overdue materials<\/span><\/li>
      • Lecturers\/staff will be charged Nu.10 per day for overdue materials.<\/span><\/li>
      • Borrowing privileges will be suspended if regular circulating materials are kept for\u00a030<\/em>\u00a0days or more beyond their due date, or if a recalled item is\u00a0five<\/em>\u00a0days overdue. Privileges will be restored only after the items have been returned<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

         <\/p>

        Lost or Damaged Items<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>
        • Any person who shall willfully, maliciously, deface, tear, write upon, ruin, or injure any library materials or facilities may be subjected to loss of library privileges and appropriate administrative action.<\/span><\/li>
        • Lost library items must be reported immediately.<\/span><\/li>
        • Replace the book or either pay the purchased price plus a processing fee of Nu.50.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

           <\/p>

          Holds & Recalls<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>
          • All borrowers are guaranteed the use of library books depending on the loan periods assigned unless a rush recall is placed to put the book on reserve.<\/span><\/li>
          • If an item is loaned out, library staff will put a recall on the item and must be submitted on the new due date. The patrons will receive a recall notice.<\/span><\/li>
          • Borrowing privileges will be suspended if a recalled item is not returned by the new recall due date and fines will be levied accordingly.<\/span><\/li>
          • An item can be placed on\u00a0hold<\/strong>\u00a0by consulting the library staff.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

             <\/p>

            Returns & Renewals<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/h4>
            • \u00a0Materials checked out must be returned to the library staff.<\/span><\/li>
            • Library items can be renewed online.<\/span><\/li>
            • Renewal polices vary depending on the type of material and users.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

              Library Catalogue<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0- (the key to finding books in the library)<\/span><\/h4>

              Books in the library are shelved in call number order using the Dewey Decimal Classification system. The Dewey Decimal Classification System divides all knowledge into ten main classes as follows:<\/span><\/p>

              200 Religion<\/span><\/p>

              300 Social Sciences<\/span><\/p>

              Re shelving<\/b><\/span><\/h4>

              Patrons should not attempt to reshelve library materials.<\/span><\/p>

              Patrons should place books taken from the shelves on the counter near the Loans Desk for library staff to reshelve.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\r\n
