General Aims\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

 <\/p>

The Diploma in ECCD aims to address the need to\u00a0 prepare knowledgeable, skilled and\u00a0competent ECCD facilitators capable of providing care, early stimulation and learning\u00a0opportunities in different ECCD programme and services in the country. Specifically, the\u00a0programme will address the need for qualified and professionally trained facilitators in the\u00a0ECCD sector.<\/span><\/p>

Objectives\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

 <\/p>

The specific objectives of this programme are to prepare ECCD facilitators who will be able to:<\/span><\/p>

  • demonstrate a sound understanding of child development while working with young\u00a0children;<\/span><\/li>
  • make an informed decision of their daily practices using knowledge of contemporary\u00a0early childhood theories;<\/span><\/li>
  • organize developmentally and culturally relevant learning environments in the ECCD\u00a0centre;<\/span><\/li>
  • organize relevant learning activities for children informed by knowledge of child\u00a0development, strengths and interests of the , and the social cultural context they live in;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • observe and document children\u2019s learning regularly and make informed curriculum\u00a0decisions;<\/span><\/li>
  • develop responsive and reciprocal relationships with children, families and communities\u00a0they work with;\u00a0Page 3 of 156<\/span><\/li>
  • respect and value local funds of knowledge when working with families and\u00a0communities;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • establish mutually beneficial relationship with families and communities;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • exhibit knowledge of health care, safety principles, nutritional and physical needs of\u00a0young children;<\/span><\/li>
  • \u00a0apply appropriate practices to ensure that a child is healthy, nourished and protected;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • advocate the benefits of play in the holistic development of a child;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • plan appropriate play activities for children;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • use different teaching methods and strategies to support children achieve learning goals\u00a0in Bhutan Early Learning and Development Standards;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • possess knowledge about different kinds of disabilities and liaise with relevant agencies\u00a0<\/span>to support children with disabilities;<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • apply basic skills in programme management and operations within an ECCD centre and\u00a0use leadership skills to advocate for quality education in ECCD centre; and\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/li>
  • exhibit sound knowledge of both global and national early childhood education policies,\u00a0practices and regulations.<\/span><\/li><\/ul>

    Admission Criteria<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

    Entrance requirement<\/span><\/strong>
    The programme proposes for the following entrance requirements:<\/span>
    An applicant aspiring to enrol in this programme should have a minimum academic qualification\u00a0<\/span>of class XII passed withminimum of 40% in English and Dzongkha. The applicant must be\u00a0employed in one of the ECCD centres and should have aminimum2 years work experience in an\u00a0ECCD centre at the time of seeking enrolment.The applicant will be merit ranked using the\u00a0following ability rating points:<\/span><\/p>
