General Aims
The programme is designed to provide opportunities to the students who have aptitude for sports and coaching; to stimulate creativity and innovation in the field of contemporary physical education and sports coaching and also to promote health and healthy living styles in realizing the theme of Gross National Happiness through Gross National Healthiness. The programme will not only serve as a broad platform for developing and promoting elite athletes at the national level but also inculcate sportsmanship and national values.
Objectives
The proposed programme in DPESC is designed to address the theoretical and practical aspects of Physical Education and Sports Coaching as per the latest trends and practices. The specific objectives of the programme are:
- to develop Physical Education (PE) teachers and coaches who are proficient in teaching and coaching through teaching practice and sport specializations;
- to inculcate in students the values, ethos and professionalism expected of Bhutanese educators and sport coaches.

Admission Criteria
1. General Requirement
General Requirement An applicant who aspires to enroll in this programme should have a minimum academic qualification of class XII passed with a minimum of 50% in English and a pass in Dzongkha. The ability rating for the purpose of merit listing of the applicants is as follows:

Dzongkha 5
3 other subjects – 1
2. Specific Requirement
2.The Physical Proficiency Test (PPT)
The Physical Proficiency Test (PPT) is a unique test meant for aspiring applicants. Interested shortlisted applicants must appear for the PPT. Before the commencement of the PPT, the applicants must complete and submit a declaration form (Annexure I: DPESC Declaration Form)along with a medical fitness certificate issued by a competent medical authority. After the registration for the test the applicant must fill in and submit the declaration form available in the registration counter. There are six stations set-up for the PPT. The stations are in the following sequence.
