“Paro College of Education hosted a training on the ‘Practice of Self-care’ on the 11th of July 2017. Mr. Sangay Dorji, faculty in Guidance and Counseling, facilitated the training.
The training was provided to encourage the practice of self-care amongst the counsellors working at Youth Development Fund, RENEW, BNCA, Care Bhutan and Chithuen Phenday, through advocacy, peer support, group supervision, and networking. During the training, counsellors are introduced to different theoretical aspect of self-care. The participants are also introduced to different tools for self-care practice, and explored their existing self-care strategy, and designed an individual self-care regime. In the later half, the participants are divided into groups based on their location, and worked on designing a framework to initiate group support as a means to self-care practice. The participants committed to exercise the group support as a means to self-care practice for two months, and all the groups will reconvene for a final meeting to discussion about the group progress, and the sustainability of the group support.
The training is within the implementation of a project under ‘Alumni Innovation Challenge’, funded by the Australia Awards. “
