2nd
May, as usual, was observed as
Teachers’ Day at PCoE. The student
teachers joined the nation to show
their love and gratitude towards
their teachers for their great
contribution. But the most awaited
day started with heavy showers which
disappointed the celebrators. The
student teachers thought their weeks
of planning, preparation and
painstaking practice of dances and
songs were going down the drain.
Relentlessly, the rain splattered
without mercy while everybody waited
with bated breath for the rain to
stop. Finally, the prayers were
answered. The sun peeped through the
clouds slowly and gently at about
9.30 a.m. planting back immediate
smiles on hundreds.
Banners that
glorified teachers were hung on
every space available around the
courtyard. Speeches that
reverberated the significance of the
day, and that were punctuated by the
songs and dances, were dedicated to
all the teachers across the globe
accelerated the excitement of the
day. Every one, the faculty and
students alike, remembered their own
teachers who had played a part in
making them what they are today.
Alongside, the
college also marked the birth
anniversary of the third Druk Gyalpo,
Jigme Dorji Wangchuk, who is revered
as the father of modern Bhutan.
The courtyard
was filled with imponderable mirth
and entertainment till 2 p.m. Every
one enjoyed to the brim, especially,
the third year students since it was
to be their last celebration in the
college.
