New Dean For Centre for Educational Research Development(CERD)

On 11 March 2010, Mr. Kezang Sherab, a lecturer in Paro College of Education, officially took over the office as the Dean, Research and Industrial Linkages, of the Centre for Educational Research Development (CERD) at Paro.

Mr. Kezang Sherab has been a role model to his students throughout his career, as a teacher and as a lecturer. He started his career in 1994 at Gauphel High School as an English and history teacher upon completion of his B Ed. degree from Samtse College of Education. Four years later, he joined the Paro College of Education as a lecturer where he worked relentlessly, and spear headed the Health and Physical Education (HPE).  He has an M Ed. degree in Health and Physical Education from St. Francis Xavier University, Canada.

Research in educational development has always been his passion. He believes that to be good teacher one must have the potential to be good researcher. “Research and Teaching must go side by side for better educational development,” he said. This concept, perhaps, may be new to our teachers but considering the fact that a teacher needs to keep improving his practices in order to cater to the needs of diverse learners and situations, it is not. The need has always been there.

In 2008 he led the conventional research on ‘Impact on Teaching of Bhutan History in Dzongkha’ and was able to bring back the teaching of Bhutan history in English from Dzongkha (National language). He wishes to carry out more research in the educational area and also to train teachers/ lecturers to carry out researches in their own fields. Among others, strengthening the Educational journal “RABSEL’ would be on his list of priorities, he said.

The family of PCE joins hands to congratulate Mr Kezang Sherab on his promotion, and to wish him an enriching and a successful tenure ahead.
