Dorji Wangchuk, PhD is currently the Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages (DRIL). He was appointed as a teacher trainer in the then Teacher Training Centre, Paro (currently Paro College of Education) by the Royal Civil Service Commission in January 1999. Prior to becoming a teacher trainer, he worked as a teacher in Drametse Junior High School, Mongar, Bhutan for two and half years. Ever since he joined the teacher training college, he taught in-service as well as pre-service candidates both at the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has supervised scores of M. Ed students. He has resources numerous in-service programmes in various departments like Non-Formal Education (NFE), Department of Curriculum and Research Development (DCRD), Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD), Royal Society for Protection of Nature (RSPN), and in other sister colleges of the Royal University of Bhutan viz. Sherubtse College, Samtse College of Education and College of Language and Cultural Studies.
He worked as the Programme Leader for the B. Ed Primary Programme (2010 – 2012) and then as the Dean of Academic Affairs (July 2015 – August 2018) in Paro College of Education. Dr. Wangchuk has authored educational research papers, newspaper articles, three books (Dance in the Clouds; Off Home Shore and English through Folktales of Bhutan) and several short stories, of which The Blind Teacher was studied as a text in class VI English literature for over a decade. Currently, he is the Editor In-Chief of RABSEL (College’s biannual journal) and Journal of Educational Action Research (JEAR) and is heading the research and industrial linkages in PCE. He is also the foreign External Examiner for the PhD candidates perusing English Language Education at the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU), India.
