Sangay Biddha

Professional biography

Sangay Biddha was a primary school teacher before she joined Paro College of Education. From 1987 to 2008, she taught general subjects to lower primary students and English to upper primary and secondary students. After completing her Master Degree from University of New Brunswick in 2006, she facilitated the National English Lead Teacher’s programme (2006-2012). She joined Paro College of Education in 2009 and since then she has taught pre-service and in-service students, facilitated professional development workshops for local and national level, written modules for primary, secondary and Master programmes. Her central expertise lies in primary education, therefore, she teaches, advocates and demonstrates her expertise in pedagogies for young children, language and literacy skills and effective teaching skills. She was involved in developing courses and training facilitators for Early Childhood Education and Non-formal Education (2011-2015). She was Programme Leader for B. Ed primary, B. Ed Secondary and B. Ed in-service programmes from 2015 to 2019. During her tenure, she ensured academic quality, systematic service and well-being of students and faculty by constantly vetting out issues related to teaching learning, communicating with stakeholders and creating a conducive learning atmosphere. She also led the College Literary Committee for five and half years (2010-1015).

 

As a focal person for Media Literacy Education (Led by Ministry of Information and Communication) from 2010 to 2015, she was involved in developing the Framework of Media Literacy Education and facilitating training workshops for pilot schools. She has also represented the college as Commissioner in National Commission for Women and Children (2009-2014). Her research interests include teaching learning in primary education, early childhood, gender, inclusivity, language and literacy skills.
